The main station provides ample space for storage, daily activities, training, and areas for both career and volunteer staff. It includes a large kitchen, day room, meeting room, exercise facility, and bedrooms on the upper level. The firehouse’s parking lot doubles as a training pad for firefighters, and a pond on site is used for water-surface rescue training. The station also houses a Tribute Hall, featuring Bennington’s first hose cart and a 14-foot, 7,000-pound steel support structure from one of the World Trade Center buildings, twisted and tarnished by the 9/11 attacks.
