The renovation of the sanctuary at First Presbyterian Church preserves the church’s heritage while ensuring its future. The liturgical area of the new chancel now extends into the former open floor space, creating a stronger connection between the chancel, pulpit, and congregation. To maintain the original woodwork, a craftsman was commissioned to hand-carve a replica of the scrolled carvings in the chancel. The north sanctuary entrance and north narthex were also renovated to improve accessibility, with the renovated narthex providing an ADA-compliant entrance into the sanctuary from this direction.
