This new 160 Bed Female Living Unit and facility expansion project created an improved living space for female inmates who are transitioning a release back into society. The facility helped with the over crowding problems the Nebraska Dept. of Corrections was encountering at other facilities and allowed the department to bring these women to a central location. The new facility houses a state-of-the-art kitchen and separate dining area which is used for the male inmates from the adjacent facility.

Construction included four dorm wings with 20 double occupancy rooms in each, a central dayroom area with an officer/reception pod, offices, laundry facilities, shower/restroom facilities and an exercise room. Support areas include the kitchen and dining areas, classroom/conference rooms, storage and workshop. There is a 2nd level mechanical room. The structure is precast wall panels with masonry interior walls, the roof over the majority of the facility is an insulated metal panel and EPDM over the mechanical room. Exterior areas allow for inmates to be outside during good weather and there is also a children’s play are for when their children visit.
